The T-RCE slash from the Slash 4×4 LCG Shootout has def. seen some track time. Stage 2 was a marked improvement. It was a completely different truck over what we ran in the shootout. I said it at the SC Nationals, and I’ll say it again.. I’m really falling in love with this truck. The adjustability of everything is staggering, and the slightest change can be felt on the track. This stage is less severe than my Stage II was, or is it? I guess you be the judge.
My Stage upgrades are considerably more severe than perhaps the other 2 slashes from the shootout, mainly because T-RCE makes so many option parts for this truck, and I have to see what all these sweet things do!
My Stage 3 parts are:
- Method RC Hellcat SC body
- T-RCE Long Wheelbase Chassis plates
- T-RCE Long Suspension arms
- AVID Sabertooth SCTE wheels (yellow)
- AVID Revolution bearings
- Pro-Line Blockades (M4)
- Pro-Line Turnbuckles
- Traxxas XO-1 center driveshaft
- STRC Aluminum Bellcrank
Again, it’s a lot.. I wanted to actually split this up with arms/wheels/tires first.. then following with the chassis so I can tell the differences between the LWB (Long Wheel Base) & Stock, but I ran out of time in the season. I planned on the Intergalactic Short Course Championships as being my last major race outdoors so I wanted to get the truck all converted. It looks like we may end up hitting a couple more, so we’ll see what happens. Either way I was able to test it in the above configuration.
First lets take a quick look at the Method Hellcat SC body. This company is seriously underrated. The packaging, design, quality and everything about this body is every bit as good as the top manufacturers. It’s kind of hard to see, and I didn’t get any pictures of it being painted. I literally painted it the night before the race, in the dark, on the porch, wearing an LED headlamp… How many of you readers can claim to have done the same? lol. It came out pretty good, all things considered. Painted pics at the end of the article.
I took it out of the bag, trimmed it out, and masked it off. I always trim and drill body holes first so I can line up the body perfect. I just find it easier.
Here’s my pile of goodies all laid out on the CowRC work mat.
