REO Raceway presented the Mafia Mayhem race on Saturday March 8th in Rockport, Indiana. Track owner Jay Bickel was very pleased with the 155 entry turnout, one of the largest ever at REO. Track announcer Shawnda Bickel did a great job of keeping things moving, getting in three qualifiers and 10 minute mains in less than 12 hours. X Factory’s Paul Sinclair presented an RC racing seminar Friday evening after practice, drawing a crowd of racers with lots of in-depth questions.
X Factory team drivers Paul Sinclair and Cody Bickel dominated most of the racing action, taking TQ and winning 4 classes. Sinclair took the TQ in 4wd and the fiercely-fought 2wd buggy class, just one second over his teammate, and was able to cruise to a victory in both Amains. Cody wrapped up the truck classes, showing incredible pace with his X-60CF and SCX-60CF. Particularly exciting was the short course Amain, which featured 5 drivers in the hunt for more than half the race until Cody was able to break away with 4 minutes to go.
