CRC drivers win 1/12th 13.5+17.5 and Formula 1.
New CRC Gen-X 10SE takes 7 of 10 A-main positions!
At the 2013 International Indoor Championships (IIC), a stellar amount of entries again poured into Vegas for a good time and killer competition. The Riviera hotel, a large CRC Fasttrak carpet track and a great management team, make for an excellent event.
This year, the Formula 1 class saw a great deal of growth with a large number of competitors and teams entering the class at the event. Calandra Racing Concepts came to Vegas with our new F1 prototype called the WTF-1, Works Team Formula 1. We had 3 brand new prototypes at the event run for the first time just 3 days before practice.
Brian Wynn, with his CRC Rocket Fuel powered WTF-1, dominated the event; setting fastest practice times as well as winning all 4 qualifying rounds. Brian also led every lap in the main, EXCEPT the last as Wynn was taken out by a back marker. Denver based CRC driver, Mario Ficco, was right there to jump on the opportunity taking an impressive win. Brian quickly recovered from the crash, getting back in the mix for second. Early in the A-main, the 3 CRC WTF-1 cars were running 1-2-3. However an aggressive overtaking move took out the 3rd place running car of Frank Calandra. In the end, a fantastic 1-2 finish for the new CRC WTF-1 car on it’s 10 day birthday.

1:12th 13.5
Andrew Knapp again puts the competition to sleep by dominating the 1/12th scale 13.5 division, back to back wins at the IIC. Andrew dominated qualifying winning 3 of 4 rounds (CRC’s Mitch Witteman won the other). Andrew led wire to wire with his CRC Xti in the transverse battery position and the optional solid chassis. Not an Altered Ego version, Andrew chose the standard Xti with the transverse battery position. Knapp used the R8C body and CRC Pro Cut tires.
1:12th 17.5
In 1/12th scale 17.5 action, North Dakota driver Randy Grosse used a VERY STOCK, inline CRC Xti car to dominate the A-main. Randy lapped up to 3rd place, setting fast lap in the process. Randy used a stock, inline Xti. No Altered Ego, no transverse kit, stock, the way the Xti comes in the box. Randy’s Minnesota teammate, John Wiita finished second with his CRC ride. The 4 CRC cars in the A-main finished 1-2-4-5, great result! Randy also used the (#3705) CRC Rocket Fuel 1s pack, (#4167) Black Art R8C body as well as CRC Pro Cut 1/12th tires.
