Road to Vintage Nats: Associated RC10 Reboot

Ok, so at this point I almost have a roller. I can’t help myself but mount the body and try a rough mockup of the wheels and tires to see what this thing will look like. I got ahold of an original release Viper body for the RC10 and had Tom from Tom’s Custom Paint Werks paint it up in my theme that I’m using from here on out. You might have seen it used earlier this year in the Serpent 811-Be E-Buggy build. He did a stellar job as always. Love when you can source a good paintjob locally.

While it may not be period correct.. I think it’s still relatively simple and should look good going around the track.

So I cut it out and mock mounted it for now. Dang!

Next I took the JC Racing wheels and installed the wheel bearings in the front. I can’t stress enough how nice these wheels are.

Now I mocked up the Pro-Line Racing tires. I went with M3 Holeshots for the rear and M3 4-Ribs for the front. I heard these tires hooked up at the track we’ll be going to so I chose to run what works. Pro-Line was one of the best tire options back in the day, and they still are.. so why not roll with a manufacturer that has been around as long as this car has.

Again, just mocking up right now.. so I didn’t install foams. But you can see, these fit the JC Racing wheels absolutely perfect!

Fronts too!

At this point I can hardly contain my excitement for how absolutely badass this build is looking.

Nice build up! Good luck at VNats. Gotta say that its kinda like sacrilege to see K shocks on an old AE!
