At this point I had both front and rear axles on and had to test wheel fitment. I wasn’t sure if they would clear the hubs, etc. I had to see it.
LOWRIDER! Ha! So it was at this point I was starting to see the whole thing come together.
There were things I loved, and things that were bothering me. It was at this point that I decided I didn’t like the old white parts on this rig, and wanted a more modern feel. It was time to dye. RIT dye that is.
So.. I tore everything down that had white parts on it, including the transmission and went on a dying mission.
I even grabbed the wing buttons off the wing.
So here is my lot of white parts.
I strung them up with picture hanging wire for the dying process.
Below is a full video documenting the whole ordeal. Start to finish this process probably added 2 hours to my project. I think it was worth it. Please excuse my redneck way of doing the dying process.. I REALLY didn’t feel like making a mess in the kitchen haha.

Here are the parts after they were cleaned up and rinsed off. I’m happy with the results. For $2 for the dye, it wasn’t a huge investment other than time.
So while we have the transmission disassembled, we can go ahead and install our B4/T4 Top Shaft. The gear on this is the same size as the stock stealth, so it is a direct drop in. This will allow us to use a modern slipper clutch that is capable of handling the power of brushless motors.
It’s a tad longer.
Dropped in all my new FastEddy bearings at the same time.
Bam! Retro stealth with modern topshaft. Probably the easier mod on this car.
Now we bolt the motor plate back up.
Associated V2 slipper installed. For the life of me I couldn’t find the right nut for this shaft, so I installed one of the nylon RPM ones just to hold it all together for now. Don’t judge me lol.
Freshly dyed rear bulkhead installed. This looks so much cleaner in my opinion.
Now we install the transmission again.
Then finally the rear shock tower. Loving the all black!
Alright. now we have something that sort of resembles a car again.
Nice build up! Good luck at VNats. Gotta say that its kinda like sacrilege to see K shocks on an old AE!
