One of the awesome things Erich does for this race is secure a bunch of door prizes to give away to racers. Everything from RC Car Action parts trays, to pit bags, and even a brand new Avante 2011 kit. Everyone walked away with something. Love these types of events (not because I’m greedy – I actually gave away most of the items I won), just because it’s awesome to see events give back to the racers for the ton of money we spend week in and week out on this hobby.
Door prizes!
The winner of the Tamiya Avante 2011 – Robb Fumire (Congrats!)
Next up was Concourse judging. Erich called all the cars to the track and had a couple guest judges pick 3 winners -Best Paint, Best in Show, and Most Original. Cars kept getting added thru these pics as I was taking them, so excuse some that look like repeats.
Check out that RC10!
The winners! I was picked for Best Paint!!!
Special thanks to Tom’s Custom Paint Werks for the paint job!
A little team photo. Myself, Jarodd, and his two sons – Mason and Parker.
Next up was the Steve Semeraro Memorial Class. Drivers were to take 1 lap around the course using only a Fat Shark vision system with goggles and a camera mounted in the prepared vehicle. The racer with the best overall time won a Team Durango DEX210 RTR. The proceeds for the class go to a donation to the American Diabetes Foundation in Steve’s name!
Erich prepping the camera car.
Everyone looks like a total dork on the stand trying to drive this thing. The experience was totally cool though. It was like a video game in real life!
Jarodd rockin the goggles!
Parker too.
It was a fun event to be a part of, and everything raised was given to charity. Awesome cause, awesome idea. This wrapped up Sunday’s “activities” before we moved into the main events of the weekend. The next and final page has the results of the event and podium pictures!
