Time to get practicing again.
This was our tent. We were representing Tamiya with our Avante 2011 (This year’s CMN Benefit car). We handed out a bunch of 2012 Tamiya Line-Up catalogs to those who attended the race.
Good stuff in those catalogs.
Here’s a group shot of the entire team, including the failed Losi LXT that we didn’t end up running. This is the same truck Matt ran at the Intergalactic Electric Championships on a lost bet.
So after we got the group shot out of the way, it was time for more practice. We threw on the Pro-Line Hole Shot tires on the Avante and it made the car a TON better over the stock tires.
Such a cool looking car.
Someone asked me if the race was on LiveRC.com. Sadly it is not. I did grab some shots of the first heat setup sheets so you guys can see who was racing. There wasn’t a ton of entries, around 60 total. I noticed a lot of guys brought cars that weren’t being raced, and were more for show. While the entry count might not be high, you have to really understand what this event is about. It’s mainly a gathering for guys who love old r/c cars and want to do something with them again. Guys came from all over, several of us from NY, one guy from Tennessee and we even had some people over from Sweden! Most everyone knows each other from RC10Talk.com.
It’s a laid back event, where you can BS about the old days, check out some old cars, maybe even buy/sell to other collectors, and just have a good time. I really like the concept of the event, as it is very low pressure compared to coming off of Short Course Nationals just a few weeks before. So anyways, here’s those sheets.
We then had the drivers meeting, welcoming everyone and giving everyone the scoop on what to expect thru the weekend.
Erich got on the mic too.
The next page is a ton of pics of random cars in no particular order.
