So with the news that the rest of the race was rained out, everyone was told to go inside for awards presentation. Sandy Snyder did the honors of handing out the plaques as Frank read off the would-be winners based on their qualifying position for the mains.

Check out them plaques!

02

We brought our TQ awards in as well. Again, Top Qualifiers were to pick a random container not knowing their contents.

03

Everyone packed in tight to gather for the awards.

04

Kevin even got one!

05

Here are the Top Qualifiers, and by default, the winners as well.

11-1

Speaking of Bush, he was awarded the RC Soup Best of Show award for his fleet of matching rigs. We didn’t do a concourse judging like last year where everyone put their car on the track. Matt and Kevin walked around looking at everyone’s rigs in the pits.

Here’s Brian with his Soup award plaque and prize (all prizes were RC Soup T-shirts).

11

The RC Soup award winners were presented with a plaque, brilliantly designed by our own Kevin Crandall. Each was also given a RC Soup T-shirt in limited edition Navy Blue/Lime Green.

Chad Wilson was our “Luck of the Draw” winner. Basically we used Random.org to select a random Heat #. Then again to select a random driver from that Heat. Last year we used a dart, we figured this was safer.

12

Jonathan Bishop AKA Lunchbox received the Run Forrest Run award. This award was for who we thought was the most active turn marshal. We watched for people who were constantly helping other turn marshals, looked for people who were on top of their area. Basically everything that defines a good turn marshall.

13

Throughout the weekend, we had a running contest going on at the RC Soup tent. It was Guess the Mystery Soup. The rules were simple. Each person got only one guess. Guess it right, and you win. Joe Petinelli took home the plaque, shocking everyone with his guess of Italian Wedding soup.

14

The next award is deemed Side-Tracked. This was for someone we noticed that left the track area in a spectacular fashion, either by distraction or simple use of too much throttle. Mark Calandra was awarded this for his track exit in one of the E-Buggy heats. He put it over the bank by the shipping container. He still managed the TQ and win for the class for the weekend!

15

Next we have the Soup Lover award. This was for someone who had a lot of RC Soup decals on their body (that we saw from walking around). Dave Solliman takes the award.

16

Now here’s the award you don’t want to get at a big trophy race. The Hard Luck award. Throughout the weekend, we watched for people who were having consistent issues. Brian Wynn AKA Dumper wasn’t able to finish a single heat of 4wd SCT despite running faster than most of the field. He kept chasing electronic gremlins that were causing steering loss.

17

Dave Stisser took home the Space Man award. This was for someone we noticed that liked Big Air. In the Round 2 of E-Buggy he was airing out his Losi like it was a space ship. It was clear he should get this award.

18

Then we had the Young Gun plaque. This was for the youngest entered racer for the weekend. Technically Jarodd’s son Parker was younger, but being affiliated with us (and we can get him a shirt any time), we chose to pick the next eldest entry. This happened to be young Tucker.19

Now for the final award that we gave out. We called it the “I got Probed” award. Get it probed.. space.. intergalactic.. aliens.. etc? Anyways, this was meant to be for a racer who we felt bad for after they were taken out, either by hard rear ending from a fellow racer, or just somehow in general. At the end of the racing, we hadn’t really witnessed such an event but then it dawned on us. We thought it best to give the award to track owner Frank Calandra. He was essentially “probed” by Mother Nature when the races ended up having to be rained out. He accepted in good sportsmanship, and said it was ultimately the racers who lost out.

Overall it was still a fun weekend despite the unwanted moisture. Frank and crew did the best they could at getting the show in. As long as they’ll have us, RC Soup plans to remain a supporting part of this event in the future for sure. See everyone next year!
