At first I mounted the Tenshock motor, but as I said earlier we wound up having a change of plans and went with a different motor.
At this point, I’m going to interject with this. On my initial test runs, I had issues getting the motor to work properly with the ESC. I worked with both manufacturers as much as I could, trying everything they suggested. In the end, I had no choice but to swap out the motor in favor of a Reedy 2100kv. Initial tests have proven this motor works fine, and is a rocket.
Now we can mount the Viper RC VTX8 ESC
I used some double sided tape to mount it to the ESC shelf behind the spur
The Futaba receiver was a little too big for the stock location, so I had to mount it to the transponder shelf in front of the spur gear.
I used a couple of tie wraps to manage the wires and keep them away from moving parts.
The rear wing is held on with two screws
For tires, I went with a set of Pro-Line Racing Blockades, in Blue Groove compound.
And here she is! I’m going to throw a very simple paint job on here, probably a single color. You’ll see the painted pictures in the review, so stay tuned!
I hope you enjoyed reading about the build as much as I enjoyed bringing it to you. This is definitely a fun car to build, and it went together relatively quickly. I’d say it took me right around 6 hours, and that included taking pictures.
Do you have this kit? What do you think about it? Pros? Cons? Stay tuned for our review in a few months.
