Atomik V2MR 1/10 2WD Buggy Build Up

We went with Pro-Line tires and DE Racing wheels. The Atomik wheels are similar in offset to the original non-hex RC10B4 wheels. After looking, it seems DE are some of the only people making them (everyone else has switched to hex – which I wouldn’t mind Atomik doing in the future just to make it easier to find wheels). The Atomik V2MR does not come with any tires. It’s considered a pro kit, so they want to save money by not giving you something you won’t likely use anyway, it saves you money too by making the kit cheaper. At the time we got the kit, extra wheels weren’t in stock, so that’s another reason we hooked up with DE Racing for some spares if the tires we chose didn’t work and needed to mount something else at the event (that wasn’t an issue though, the Pro-Line tires hooked up great).

Since the Motorama 1/10 track is clay, we opted for clay compound tires. We went with Scrubs 2.2″ 2WD MC (Clay) Off-Road Buggy Front Tires and Suburbs 2.0 2.2″ MC (Clay) Off-Road Buggy Rear Tires. We also had Suburbs 2.0 2.2″ M4 (Super Soft) Off-Road Buggy Tires as backups. For whatever reason we mounted the Rear MC’s to the DE wheels, and the fronts to the Atomik wheels, so for most of the runs we are running 2 different colored wheels.. but that’s ok.. it helps it stick out right? Ya, we’ll go with that lol.

And finally, the completed build (after Motorama). We were so pinched for time, we didn’t even finish everything until we actually got to the event. This is how we ran it though in 2wd Stock Buggy class. The Pro-Line MC Scrubs in front, Suburbs in back. Also running a Tekin RS esc, Thunder Power lipo, and Thunder Power 17.5 motor.

Well, there it is. The long awaited Atomik V2MR buggy build. So far we have only ran it in the rear motor configuration. It has made the A or B main in the 3 trophy races we’ve taken it to with Team Driver Jarodd Goedel at the wheel. Keep in mind, he’s never raced a 2wd buggy before this.. and those 3 races are the only one’s this car has seen. We have had almost no setup changes on it (minor ones of course), but nothing huge. So far it’s doing well.

We hope to have a review up soon for the rear motor configuration and talk about the buggy’s general handling characteristics and pros/cons etc. We’ll then convert it to mid motor and see how that changes the handling.

So far, so good. I think Atomik might really have something with this kit. It’s pretty durable (but not indestructible), and it can obviously hang with the other buggies with the right driver. More coming soon.
