The COW RC RCMTC-MI 2012-2013 Season 2 has begun and Round # 1 was off and running Saturday October, 27th at the Kellogg Education Center for a full day of Replica RC Monster Jam Racing! It had been some time since our club was able to offer a season points series since losing our venue twice in the past year or so. We were able to get back into our previous building and the excitement of the season opener was in all of our veins. We had a great turnout of racers and a very impressive field of 36 Pro Modified Clods and 6 Box Stock Traxxas Mosnter Jam Stampedes. The Novice class was low in numbers because Mr. Zyck’s kiddos had prior commitments so my kids just took the day off and we did not race Novice class.
The racing was a blast with a 3 lane track designed by our VP and lap times were steadily in the 12 second range with some blistering fast laps in the 11 second range. The CPE Space Ghost Terminator Clod of Jimmy Grahl had some of the fastest times of the day nabbing TQ for the round. Many of our racers are top notch drivers and the competition is great in our club. Many close battles were fought and our final turn was a tricky one. That proved to be a great challenge to get across the sensors first and take the win.
With our addition of the Traxxas Box Stock Monster Jam Pede class our racing has a great mix of fast and fun racing. The Traxxas trucks prove to be challenging even for the best of racers because of the set up of these trucks. Our racer Dan DuFore said “Each one of these trucks are different out of the box. Some slipper clutch’s, tires and even motors act and respond differently than the others.” This is very noticeable on the track too so drivers are kept on top of their game. These trucks are a riot and very fun to drive. Easy to race with their size and the cost is the best part of it to get yourself involved in RC Monster Jam racing. With good looks and solid performance we can see this class improving each and every round.
We had a full racing day and completed 3 full rounds of Elimination bracket racing. Pics are minimal at best and we have some good pit shots but not much racing action shots. If anyone has additional photos please post them up or provide a link to them, it is greatly appreciated by us! Stephen Hopkins however nailed some awesome footage on video so be sure to watch the action on YouTube at the end of this post.

I want to thank everybody for coming out and spending the day with us. Thank you to Scotty Konoski for helping me set up on Friday evening. The club has once again ran into problems with this venue. The RCMTC-MI Series will be moving to another facility shortly and I have removed all club property from the Kellogg Education Center. All dates at that facility are now cancelled and we will hopefully be resuming our series at a new venue and continue with our points series. Updates are soon to follow and we are working on this so we will not have any interruption of our season. Thank you for your support of Michigan Monster Truck Racing!!
