Did I mention I was pressed for time? The Intergalactic Short Course Championships were on Sat, and most of this build was from the Thurs before. I decided to leave the truck, mostly assembled Friday night and focus on painting the body and readying our Awards we gave away @ the event. The above is the last pic I have of the conversion, as I was in a mad scramble to finish. I ended up finishing the truck at the track early in the morning. Basically what you missed, was my installing the electronics, swapping out the old turnbuckles for the new Pro-Line ones that come with the Pro Trac kit, and buttoning everything up.
Below is the finished product before racing began.
The body came out awesome using Tamiya Brilliant Blue and Florescent Orange paints that I picked up when we were at RC Madness (more hobby shops need to stock Tamiya paint).

Blockades!
So I guess the next question is, how did it perform?
Well, if it had a better driver behind the wheel, I’m sure it would have been much better. HAHA. The handling changed with these mods, and I noticed a big difference from Nationals. The longer wheelbase seemed to make it more mellow, less twitchy from what I can tell (this is a big one for me, as I don’t quite have the reaction time to handle a tritchy truck). It’s still very nimble and puts it where I point it.
The wide arms give all the benefits of the Pro-Line Pro Trac system, except what I did is basically piece together my own conversion. Doing this I ended up with stronger arms, and better looking (brighter) wheels.
I’m satisfied with this stage, and the truck is getting better and better, well beyond my expectations. I just need more time with it to learn a little more about what setup changes to make, and I think I will eventually work my way to the front of the pack (well, at least in the B main, lol – but that’s all me, not the truck’s fault). I’ll leave you with some sweet action shots from our photographer John Zachary.
