The AVID sabertooth SCTE wheels and Revolution bearings are pictured below. I need to change wheel offsets with this stage because the T-RCE Wide arms bring the truck width out, so we need zero offset wheels to bring the tires back in under the body. This is the same as doing the Pro-Line Pro Trac kit except the T-RCE arms are stronger and have more adjustment holes. They can also be run on any corner of the truck, just like the ones in Stage II.
The AVID Revolution bearings are something I’ve not tried before. They run hybrid seals. Usually you sacrifice speed (metal) for durability (rubber). These combine the best of both worlds and have a metal seal on one side, and a rubber side on the other. So in theory, they are faster than an all-rubber sealed bearing, and keep dirt out better than an all-metal sealed bearing. Just put the rubber seal on the outside (that gets the most dirt exposure). One thing is for sure, these things roll SMOOTH!
Here are the Pro-Line turnbuckles, T-RCE LWB Chassis plates, and T-RCE Wide Arms.
Traxxas XO-1 driveshaft and the Pro-Line Blockades. Why the XO-1 driveshaft you ask? Well.. the stock one is too short. The XO-1 uses the same splined drive system, so all we have to do is cut this shaft down to fit correctly. The Blockades I decided to try over our spec AKA Gridiron tires from the shootout, just because I’ve heard from others that they work well on our type of surface. That, and I can no longer run the stock offset wheels anymore, perfect time to try something new.
Let’s pop this bad boy on the Revolve RC stand and get crackin!
I started with the rear end, as it was easier not having to deal with the servo, bellcrank, etc right away.
Let’s get these arms swapped over.
Here are the new arm and the old side by side. The difference isn’t too crazy, but they are definitely wider.
Out with the old!
While I’m tearing this truck down for all this.. I’m also replacing all the bearings, rebuilding all the diffs, etc.
Here you can see the hybrid seal system pretty good.
New vs. old. The traxxas bearings are good to get you started, but they aren’t a real high quality bearing. Replacing them with something aftermarket will improve your truck, offering a smoother spinning drivetrain, and probably will last longer.
These look pretty snazzy when installed!
Tear down continues to gain access to the rear differential.
Rear diff! Finally!
Swapping the bearings out…
This is a messy process tearing this whole thing down.
