Time for some shocks. This rubber tube will be cut to length per the manual, and the pieces will slide over the shock shafts to prevent them from compressing too far.
Here are all the pieces we need to build one shock. There are 8 shocks on this behemoth!
First we’ll slide the shock shaft into the shock tube
Then we’ll slide one of the rubber tube pieces on, along with threading on a jam nut.
Slide the spring on next, followed by the lower spring cup/shock mount.
The upper shock mount has two tabs on the sides, and it simply snaps into the shock tube
That’s a lot of shocks.
To mount the tops of the shocks to the chassis, there is a metal insert that the screw will go through, and a washer to prevent binding.
The mounting screw goes into the chassis through the shock, and is held in place with a serrated nut.
We chose the middle shock hole as a neutral initial setup
Two shocks get mounted in each corner.
The lower shock mounts snap over the ball cups on the suspension arms
