Doug Smith is a local young gun at CRC Raceway. He’s climbing the ranks, getting better each week. At the time of this writing, he is sitting second in points in the Sunday Series 4WD SCT class. He runs a Losi SCTE. He reviewed the KingHeadz Chassis for the SCTE for us, letting us know how its performing for him. Check it out!
I recently purchased a King Headz chassis for my Losi scte and I LOVE IT! The stock chassis weights 300 grams and the King Headz weights a slim 225 grams. It is made from 1/8” 7075 aircraft billet aluminum so it is extremely strong.
Its also hard coat anodized black for wear and durability. This chassis is different then all of the others because it rotates the center differential drastically so there isn’t as much angle on the front to center driveshaft and CVD reducing wear and saving you money over time. With this change there is more of a straight driveline, with less angle in the driveline there is less load on the motor so you will see your motor temps go down and run times go up.
Usually I would use around 5800mah from my CRC 6100 55c lipo but now with the King Headz chassis I can make that 8 minute run plus some and my motor temps went down 7 to 13 degrees f* after a 8 minute run. They also made it to where you don’t need the little plastic insert under the spur gear and without that part it lowers your center of gravity.
Value | In value I have to give the chassis a 3 because it does cost more then all of the others. |
Appearance | The appearance is a 5 because it is flat black and they engraved their logo into the chassis |
Performance | Performance I would give it a 4 because the chassis handles great but they could of made the chassis more rear heavy. |
Durability | In durability I would rate this chassis a 5 because I have ran it for a couple of races now and there is no scratches on the bottom, it has also taken some pretty hard hits and it hasn’t bent. |
Would I buy again? | I would definitely buy this chassis again. |
I give the Kingheadz Losi SCTE chassis a 4.5 out of 5 Spoons
Over all the King Headz chassis is awesome in my opinion and that’s what I will be running it at the Intergalactic Short Course Championships at CRC Raceway August 25-26, 2012!
