Chuckworks Slice 4X LCG Chassis Conversion Build: Slash 4×4

Last thing was the stock gear cover over the rear gears. This required a lot of modification. I followed Chuck’s instructions and cut/ground out a little at a time and kept trying the fitment of the cover repeatedly. Admittedly this is a slow process but I did eventually get it modified so it fit the chassis and covered the rear gears nicely. I feel this is an important piece to have in place as a stray stone or stick could get jammed into your gears and end your racing for the day!

I then installed our new AKA Gridiron-super soft tires (green dot) on all 4 corners

I painted up a shiny new Traxxas Slash 4X4 body (Traxxas p/n #6811). A new truck deserves a new lid!

I’ll also mention that I cleaned and lubed all of the components with MOO-Slick Lube as I reassembled everything. Need to make sure all the bearings are cleaned/lubed as well as hinge pins and steering/suspension components.

All in all it was a fun build/conversion to work on. I recently built a Chuckworks RC Slice A4 conversion for the Traxxas Slash 2WD. I can say the build times were about the same and the kit went together very well.

I put one of my CRC 65c-5600mh Lipo packs into the Slice4x and took it outside for a little testing in the road in front of my house. Compared to the Slash 4X4 in stock form, the Slice 4X had a much more neutral feel on and off power. The truck also felt much more nimble than the stock version.

I’ll be heading to CRC Raceway in Rome, NY to shake down the Slice4X over the coming weeks. I really look forward to getting this truck on the track. We’ll share the results soon so stay tuned!
