We caught up with local CRC native Brian Wynn this weekend at the RC Pro Series. Wynn is a staple of CRC, being one of their top racers and traveling the country with their amazing carpet cars. He also helps at the track, announcing and doing anything required to help make CRC’s races the best they can be.

How many years have you been racing? 26 years and counting.
Most memorable moment in R/C? Winning the ROAR National Championship for 1/12 Scale Stock
How did he get involved in RC Racing? Some kids at school were getting Tamiyas like the Hornet, Grasshopper, etc.. His dad stopped into a hobbyshop and picked up an RC10 and got him into racing.
Do you prefer Electric or Nitro? Dumper likes both. Electric is a calmer scene, but nitro is cool too. Nitro is the closest he’ll get to real racing.
Any tips for new RC racers? Practice and set real expectations for yourself. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t win your first time out.
What is your favorite racing class? 1/12 scale on-road. No other class teaches you r/c fundamentals like it (how to hold a consistent line, etc).
Do you do any R/C besides Off-Road Racing? On-road racing.
What is your favorite type of soup? Chicken Noodle – with a TON of crackers.
Bonus Question… Where did you get the nickname “Dumper”? Way back when we ran nickel metal packs, I had some REALLY good batteries that just came out. For weeks I struggled with them dumping in the races. Frank Calandra Jr. tried them and they ran fine… I couldn’t chase down what the issue was. One race I was late bringing my car to start the race, and Frank Calandra Sr. (who was calling the race), said “Hurry up Dump Dump”. It stuck. Turns out the issue was caused by a short in the servo. Nobody ever touched it when I was having issues, or they would have noticed how hot it was.
