We no longer need the stock motor plate, so off it comes
With a dab of red loctite on the screws, we’ll attach the motor to the SSC motor mount
There is one screw in the top of the motor mount, and two in the bottom. Make sure to use a dab of red loctite here as well. Set your mesh right away
There are holes on the right side of the chassis to mount the stock ESC with a couple M3 screws. We put a layer of servo tape under the ESC to absorb some of the impact should the chassis ever bottom out.
There are even screw holes in the center top plate for the stock receiver box. One of them is the screw we put into the support post earlier, so remember to pull it out first
The stock RTR Slash we bought had a clip holding the motor wires in place. And SSC included a hole in the chassis for just that purpose
We are going to start at least with the stock Traxxas TQi radio that came with this truck. The other two trucks however are being run by Spektrum radios, so before the shootout we will convert this truck to Spektrum as well.
We are also using the stock Traxxas 2075 servo in all three trucks, so we’ll screw it to the servo mounts
The servo mounts facing the bottom of the chassis, which obviously presents a problem for screwing on the horn if we mount the servo first
So instead, we’ll screw the servo horn on with the servo still disconnected from the chassis, then we’ll maneuver it into position
Now we can mount the servo
Don’t forget the red loctite
After we route the servo and ESC wire in to the receiver, we can start putting the waterproof box back together
The truck we bought didn’t come with sway bars, but the RCE truck and the Chuckworks truck both have them, so we picked up a set
