Also in preparation for the Dirt Nationals pull, we opted to fix the battery situation with this car. Running a stock 6 cell stick pack creates a problem. With the bigger tires, they hit the ends of the battery when it is run in the stock location. The solution most guys were running is to create a sort of saddle pack. I hit up Pro-Match Racing, as they’re my trusted source for quality matched Nimh packs. Not many people do them anymore, but this class requires them.
They followed my instructions as to what I needed and sent me an unfinished pack (as this requires custom measurement and fitting). I’m no stranger to soldering or pack building so I was able to get it together without issue. We’ll basically be building a 4 cell and a 2 cell pack wired together.
First I measured how much wire I needed and soldered them to the ends of the pack, and installed the endcaps.
I then used the included shrink wrap to seal the pack up.
Heated with a hair dryer and done.
Here you can see how the stock 6 cell pack rubs the tires.
No more rubbing.
Here is the 2 cell mini pack. Cute isn’t it?
Very nice Kevin. Puller looks awesome. Good luck this weekend!
So where are you guys attaching the sled to the diggers? I pull and think this would be an awesome cheap class to start. I have prob 4 of these chassis already. Thanks
We just use the wheelie bar. I still need to cut out the spot in the body for access though.
The spur gear hub you can get from outlawhobbies.com and I believe servocity.com
Are there other wheels and tires there using like a tlt wheel and tire? Sorry for all the questions but I think this would be a good class to add to ours . Just doing some homework before I suggest us adding this class.
