The big question on everyone’s mind….how does it perform??
We started with some speed runs in the street. It took a gentle throttle until about 1/2 throttle, and even then if you stabbed it the truck would drag the bumper and flip. We were able to get up to 32 MPH in the street. This was done in the road, where there are imperfections in the pavement. So we set out to find a smoother running surface. The local school’s parking lot turned out to be perfect.
We gave ourselves plenty of room, and built up speed slowly. No matter how slowly I built up speed, as soon as the trigger reached half throttle the truck wanted to flip over backwards. We managed to hit 42 MPH in the parking lot runs. We peaked at 95 degrees on the motor. Still plenty cool. We could adjust gearing for more speed!
For a goof, we brought a little ramp with us to play around with. With the tiny car, and darty steering, it was hard to line up with the jump. But it sure was fun to try to get a 2wd Monster Truck to back flip.
We had to cut the day short due to some breakage. We busted a front A Arm, stripped the spur gear, and we slid on our roof so much that we wore down the rear body mounts to nubs.
Very cool. 42mph with a mini? That’s crazy…
Nice job on the hop ups guys, too cool
