And the rear bumper
Here we have the new motor plate in place, as well as the motor mounted.
Now we can reinstall the stock spur gear and set the mesh.
Next up we’ll install the bearings in the rear axle carriers
Then we can put in the dogbones and the outdrives. I bet some of you are asking yourselves “Self, what is that stand, and where can I get one?” Well, I got this stand from AJS Machine when we were down at Motorama last month. I picked up the same 5.5″ 360 Stand as Kevin reviewed last year. I love this thing, its strong enough to support my heaviest RC, and nimble enough to work on a mini as well.
Time for some suspension. We used Losi Mini T shocks. These come dry, so we filled them up with 25 weight shock oil.
We are putting in a Dynamite Fuze 7000KV Brushless system. By removing the stock ESC, we also lost the stock receiver (it is a 2-in-1 combo unit). So we are going to put a Spektrum receiver in the truck, and use a stock Losi 2.4 Ghz radio to control this beast. There isn’t a lot of room to put this stuff. I went with on top of the battery strap, right where the stock esc/receiver unit was sitting.
Finally we can put bearings in the front wheels.
Here’s the first pictures of the finished product
Very cool. 42mph with a mini? That’s crazy…
Nice job on the hop ups guys, too cool
