When I started putting the shock towers on, I encountered my first problem with the manual. Here it shows to use 3x10mm round head screws to mount the shock tower. However, the shock tower has countersunk screw holes. These need flat head screws. Now, they didn’t include enough flat head 3x10mm screws. I wound up using 3x12mm flat head screws here.
They only gave me 15 3×10 mm flat heads, and by this point in the build I was down to just a couple left.
With the screw issue behind us, lets mount the shock tower
This is the front body mount. Just one screw holds it to the shock tower.
Here is the first hinge pin. You’ll notice the plastic bushing. This is for the front, so the bushing is centered.
The hinge pin slides in from the front, with the plastic bushing seating in the shock tower.
One of the upgrades in the Pro Kit is captured hinge pins. In the RTR they have E Clips
These grub screws are for setting droop. There are extrusions on the chassis that these tighten against to adjust how low the arms will sag when weight is removed from them.
Here we have the front suspension coming along nicely. Both lower arms are in place.
