Lets dig in to the conversion. For the Losi XXX-SCT, I went with Proline’s Hex Conversion kit, PN# 6069. This kit converts the front hubs to hex. The XXX-SCT comes with rear hexes stock.
Here is what we started with. This is the stock RTR front hub for the Losi XXX-SCT.
We’ll start off by preparing the new hubs for installation. The first step is to install the included bearings in the steering knuckle.
Next, we’ll insert the axles, along with a small shim.
Next we insert a drive pin into the axle. It was a bit of a tight fit, but if you squeeze one side with a pair of pliers you can get it in. Nice thing here, is that the pin won’t move once it’s in there, so no chance of it coming out on you.
It’s time for the 12mm hex. Pretty self explanatory. Nice feature here, is that there is a small grub screw that holds it on. I dropped a dab of blue Loctite on there just for good measure.
Here is one side ready to go.
Now to mount the steering knuckle to the C Hub. There are metal sleeves that go into the C hub, the steering knuckle slides in the middle, and screws are inserted from the top and bottom of the C hub to hold it all together.
Putting the new hub back on the truck, starting by inserting the hinge pin
Finally we attach the steering and camber links. Repeat this process for the other side, and this bad boy is ready for the track!
