Almost immediately I noticed something that I didn’t like. The chassis tub is formed to accept a shotgun style stick Nimh pack. My hard case lipo was not going to fit. I can’t blame Tamiya though. The mold for the chassis was probably built 10-15 years ago, well before hard case lipos were a standard. I’ve fully converted to Lipo in 1/10 scale, and no longer even own a standard Nimh pack.
My solution.. run a smaller Lipo! I’ll just velcro this Sky Lipo 2200mah 2s 30c soft pack in there. It’s a slow enough truck where I don’t really NEED to have 5000mah of battery life. This should do fine. The only downside is it’s a lot lighter and for a crawler, weight isn’t really a bad thing to have.
