Kevin So, what’s the verdict? The CR-01 is a very nice kit. It goes together well, drives well, and looks AWESOME. While I did not get too crazy with the amount of abuse I put on the truck (hey, we have to keep it nice for the raffle, right?), I got a pretty good idea of it’s capabilities. The only mods I would perform initially are wheel weights, and maybe a slower motor. It is running the included 27 turn motor. Going to something like a 35 or 45 turn would slow it down and yield more low end torque and control.
Overall, it’s a great option if you are looking to get into crawling/scaling, and it isn’t your standard cookie cutter RTR crawler. If you enjoy kit building, love Tamiya, and want a capable crawler.. the CR-01 Land Cruiser is worth looking at.
