Its time to start talking about electronics. The kit comes with a 4″ strip of double sided tape. It is pretty sturdy stuff, so I decided to give it a try on the receiver
Is this the receivers final home? We weren’t sure at this point.
The manual instructs you to mount the Electronic Speed Control, or ESC, to the back of the receiver box. The Caslte Creations Mamba Max Pro were are using was a bit big for this location. In this position, the driveshaft would hit the ESC fan when the suspension was compressed
With the ESC sitting vertical like this, the battery tray is interfered with. We wouldn’t have been able to use the metal plate you will see in a few steps
I even tried fitting the ESC into the receiver box. But it was still too tall for the battery tray to work in its stock configuration
Here is how we mounted the ESC. By taking the fan off the ESC, we were able to fit it on the back of the receiver box, in the stock configuration
With a permanent home found for all of the electronics, we plugged in all of the leads to the receiver
And installed the cover on the receiver box
Next we installed the metal plate which is where the battery is mounted
Velcro straps provide a secure hold down for the battery, and provide flexibility with which battery type you select
Next we soldered the wires from the ESC to the motor
At this point we were able to install the pinion gear, and set the mesh
