Today was a rainy day but I had the itch to run my Traxxas Ken Block rally car. I just had to go out. Finding a place that was semi dry would be a challenge though. I had a place in mind that I have seen at the local park under some pine trees. This area is also adjacent to some pavement so I could get the whole “rally” effect.
I loaded up my stuff into my Subaru and headed down to the park. The dirt looked good, dry in some places and a nice hard packed wet look in others. Plus an added bonus is I was the only one out in the rain (who’d have guessed?)!
For those who are unfamiliar with the Traxxas brand, most of their models are waterproof (all the newer models) and I took full advantage of that. So with a course planned out in my head and a fresh lipo in the car, I hit the dirt……and pavement, oh and a tree 😉
My rally is 90% stock with the exception of a lipo and some Tamiya wheels fitted with Tamiya rally block tires that are half worn. Other then that the car is like it was out of the box. I haven’t changed shock fluid or diff fluid. I haven’t even changed gearing.
The car is a blast to drive and after getting used to how it reacts and being ginger with the throttle control i was able to get some drifts in and small jumps. As long as the terrain isn’t too gnarly the car will remind you of the full scale rally cars.
So go out and don’t be afraid to take your rally car off the pavement. Just be prepared to clean..
I had some cleaning to do...
Wow, that looks awesome! Do you have more pics or a vid? I have never driven a rally rc car but that makes me want one…bad!
im sure there will be more pics of it up on here.As for a video, i dont have one. sorry.
