Last night was pretty successful. Big thanks to Jarodd of Canalside Raceway for hosting another evening of fun. We didn’t seem to run as much as we did last week, or at least I didn’t anyways. Still a good time.
I fixed my truck when I got there from the previous race day at CRC. I glued up a new wheel/tire since the one from last week is garbage. I chucked the stock wheel nuts in my pitbox and replaced them with 4mm Serrated nuts from Traxxas. These nuts are grooved on the back of the flange to help lock the wheel in and prevent it from loosening (That’s what caused the issue at CRC).
Once I got it fixed I threw it on the track and began running with the other guys. We had a few 2wd Associated SC10’s, a Traxxas Slash, a Traxxas Rustler VXL, and of course Jarodd’s Caster buggy. We don’t really race but just practice and log track time. It’s all in good fun.
The SC10 4×4 ran as good as it ever has. I LOVE this thing. It has tons of power and speed and is really nimble on the track. Maybe a little too nimble. It could use sway bars I think but they are still backordered everywhere. It can get little squirrely going down the straightaway.
Nobody really broke anything, so it was a good fun night. I got to test the new serrated nuts, and everything remained tight for the 2 packs I ran through the truck. I guess that’s a good sign.
Looking forward to the season opener at Buddyboys R/C Offroad track this Sunday.
